The purpose of this study was to find out whether the difference in occupation or in gender affect people's number of steps taken daily in the wintertime. We made a comparison between middle-aged office workers and middle-aged agricultural workers in terms of their number of steps taken daily in S town. Results obtained were as follows : 1) Although both male and female agricultural workers surpassed the office workers in terms of the number of steps taken daily, the difference was not statistically significant. 2) Female workers in both of the occupational groups exceeded the male workers in the number of steps taken and the difference was statistically significant in the case of the office workers. It was suggested that the creation of a program for maintaining a proper daily amount of exercise and its practice are important in the wintertime.
